SCHUMI IS BACK!!!

Yes, he has a lighter car and softer tyres, but Schumi has frequently ran light this season to make up for his Ferrari's lack of pace, and didn't manged to get pole. So, I think Ferrari has finally produced a car that is competetive. The practise timings also proved this.

One and a half more hours to the start of the Hungarian Grand Prix. I can't wait...

304 days to ORD

The NZ chief of army visited my camp this afternoon, and i was selected to represent Singapore to welcome him. "We should feel proud, as there are many others that want to be in your shoes, but are not good enough" an officer said. Well, i will gladly let him replace me. I should be on off for the whole of this week, but as i was the "good enough ones", all my off were cancelled. I also had to spend two afternoons, polishing my boots and ironing my smart four, just for the 10 minutes parade. "You all better do well. My promotion depends on you now" my CSM said.

I think he will be promoted as the parade went quite smoothly. But we had the fright of our lives when the 2 star general opened Shawn's SBO pouch (as we were supposed to syuff neswpapers inside to make it look squarish and nice), but luckly, the particluar pouch that he open was filled with out-field stuff (Shawn was lazy to take them out). Everyone thought that's it, when saw him opening the pouch. Well, everyone had a good laugh after that.

After the parade, I had to help out my section to set up rovers for the out-field next week. As we were short of manpower, we asked the other sections in my platoon to help out. As usual, a particular section, and Mr. Act Rich refused. Well at least Mr. Act Rich had a new and interesting excuse this time. He said that he can't go down to help as he was afraid CSM is looking for him, as he failed to report to guard duty on Monday (as he was busy "making" money). Nice try. In the end, he went to "help" by sitting on the driver's seat to make the car more balanced, so that we will have a easlier time setting up the rovers.

Actually, i was more diasppointed at the two "old bird" in my section than Mr. Act Rich. The two of them actually spent the WHOLE morning zeroing their weapons, leaving only two of the "new birds" to set up the rovers. Do you have to take so long? Well, only they can answer that. Last time i did zeroing, i finished in half an hour, and we had many more weapons to zero then.

Hai... 304 more days...

Alonso won the German Grand Prix yesterday, after Raikkonen retired while leading. Schumi was only 5th, after being passed by Button and then Fisichella on the last lap.

Ferrari was clearly not fast enough, and the lack of race pace is hurting Schumi. He had a brilliant first lap, passing 2 cars on the opening straight, but it went downhill from then on.

Maybe next year will be a better year. If Ferrari and Bridgestone get their acts right, we will see the real Schumi again.

Went to Masakatsu jap restaurent yesterday with Yi Wei & Seng Choong. The atmosphere was quite nice, considering the price. The food was also not bad, although the variety was too little for my liking. Well, for a jap buffet dinner that's only 10 bucks, one can't expect too much...

Booking in in another 3 hours and 16 minutes. Have to do guard duty tomorrow, and guess what, the BOS for tomorrow will be Mr. Wayang again!!!

This is better than striking 4D man. The 2nd best sergeant in my unit being my BOS for the second consecutive time (the best of course is Mr. Birdy Man). Wish me luck.

Went cycling at Ubin yesterday with QinQin, Roger, Feng Rui, AASK 2IC & the two Erics. A very fun experience, espically with Roger around. He's hopeless at cycling. Braking is done by putting both legs on the ground, and whenever we reached an upslope, he will have to dismount to push his ride up. All these generated lots of laughter, which brightened up the otherwise rain-soaked day.

All of us were tired and dirty at the end of the day. Due to the rain and mud, all our clothes also had a "trail of destruction". Roger's was the worst. His shirt won't look out of place in an art gallery.

A pity that not all could make it to yesterday's trip. You had missed out something good.

Mr Yap Peng Koon has assumed the post of my section's 2IC, with all of the "lao jiao" clearing their leave in preparation of ORD. With greater power, his level of "guai lanness" has also increased significantly.

Here are the evidence:

Mon: Came back from guard duty. Began emphasizing how impt he & his alarm clock is when he knew that all of us woke up late for breakfast.

Tues: Was shouting at the top of his voice during soccer, wanting people to pass the ball to him. No names were used. Only "OEI!!!" & "ARRR!!!"

Wed: When i asked him to help me scan my camp pass (so that i can skip breakfast), replied with "not a problem. i will pass the card to Staff Tan and tell him to scan for you".

Thus: His dad would be driving him back later in the day. When i asked if i could hitch a ride in his Lexus, he said it would depend on my peformance when doing "sai kang" later.

These were only some of the things he did the past week. If i were to put all of it down, i think i would be able to publish a book. "How to be a good section 2IC" will be a appropriate title.

So Mr Yap, i think you better wake up your idea, or else...

Going to Ubin later. Peng Koon is already at my house, ready to go immediately when the button is pressed... Hope we will enjoy ourselves...

Soccer jerseys. Whenever you spot people wearing them, mostly likely, it will be in Man Utd or England's colours. People wear them as a show of support. But you don't i see people wearing Singapore jerseys on the streets.

Why is this so? Don't we support Singapore? Look at Korea and Japan. Everytime they play at home, the stadiums will always be clad in pink and blue respectively, and no, this started way before they did asia proud at the last world cup. Such is the love and support for their national team that even if they got trashed, the public never turn their backs on them. But the same cannot be said here. When Singapore was trashed 4-0 by Malaysia at Kallang a few years ago, there was a public outroar. The Lions was the shame of the century, attendances for future games was at a all time low. Nobody wanted to be associated with the Lions then. Nobody, except for a few, supported them, at a time where that's what the Lions need most.

Even when they won the Tiger Cup, the support was, to be truthful, not that great. Yes, nobody expected them to win, but to me, I think no one cared. The English Premier League was the order of the day. People was wishing the Chelski will be a flop, and that Man Utd will rule again. The Lions? Who cares...

You will start defending yourself, saying that will are really a die-hard Lions fan. But, let me ask you, who wore no.4 at the last Tiger Cup? How many goals did they scored in total?

So buck up. In order for Singapore to furfill the goal 2010 dream, you must start supporting them now. So what are you waiting for. Go grab a Lions jersey now! It only costs 50+ bucks. Half the price of a England jersey!

Dear driver of SHC1618B,

I didn't cut in front of you and braked to 70kmh because the car in front slowed down. It was done on purpose. Now you know how fustrating it is when the car in front of you is driving slowly, and don't move into the second lane when the car behind him is obviously faster. I was alreadly so close to you. What do you want me to do, kiss your bumper to let you know that i'm behind? You are on the road most of the time, surely you would have more road awareness right.

You guys are always doing it. Road hogging, cutting into lanes suddenly without signaling, accelerating into people's blind spot when he or she wants to move into your lane, and the list goes on. Who do you think you are, the king of the road?

I think the ongoing "war" between cars and bikes ahould be postponed. Taxis vs Others is a more pressing issue.

With love,
Guang Jenq

The air-con guys finally came just now and fixed a new unit in my room. The old one broke down a few months ago, and with the weather getting hotter n hotter these days, he really came at the right time.

I really hope that they will also install one in my bunk, although i think the probability of that happening is slightly lower than the chances of Philip joining us for evaluations and doing guard duty (read: fat hope).

Finally get to watch Initial D with Alan & Seng Choong last sunday. Thought that the movie became quite boring after the first 30 minutes. The plot was quite shallow, with no substance. I think the anime is better in that sense. It's background techno music, although "beng", also makes the races more exciting to watch.

But credit must be given to Andrew Lau & Alan Mak, for their effort in remaking Initial D. I think they did quite a good job. Chapman To also added life to the movie, with his funny portrayal of Itsuki. I really like his definition of "god" haha...

In camp now serving the 2nd of my 3 confinements. Only 4 of us in camp today, as the others decided not to serve this week. Mr Ang Kok Heng is beside me now, surfing wad else but gaming websides, and 1st sgt (NCC) Lim Wei Qin and Jun han are taking a nap (on different beds) and have ordered me to wake them up at 1030hrs to catch their favourite show, the POKEMON. As he is a 1st sgt (NCC), i have no choice but to follow his orders, to avoid getting more punishments haha...

It suddenly dawned on me while driving to camp that in a few years time, i will have to start providing for the family. Don't know if i will be able to do it. And i still have my dreams to fulfil. Dreams of getting a EG6 after U, and then upgrading it to an DC5, then FD, Skyline and finally being able to own a black benz S500 at the age of 50. I know some will think how inmature i am, changing cars as if their are as expensive as the clothes now, during the GSS. But this is what that motivates me. Well, come to think of it, i should be able to do it, if i do accounts for Temasek Holdings haha... NTI is also another good way, seeing how one of it's outstanding talents is now seriously thinking of getting a car at the age of 20, without even having a license. With the bags of money he earns now, he should be able to pay the fines that he will get, driving without license haha...

Seiously, i will have start working hard now, to provide my parents with a confortable life in a few years time. Gosh, why do i have to grow up so fast. Imagine if i am only still 16 now...

45 minutes more to waking the 1st sgt (NCC) up...
